The PB Racing model car company produced the Mustang X3 quite some time ago and we have decided to republish the manual on-line as a reference. |
This will help both those who still have one of these cars as well any other modeller who is interested in cars from the past. |

Pack No. PB32A
Take the hexagon driver with a one way roller clutch (43/108) and fit a 31T gear (43/244A) securing it with a circlip (22/259). Now fit a 6mm x 13mm bearings (22/315) to each of the three plummer-blocks (43/245) taking care that the bearings are fully home - you will probably need to press the bearings in using a vice.
Fit a 6mm collar (13/336) to the layshaft (43/246) using the 4mm wide flat which is closest to one end of the shaft to locate the grub screw. |

Slide the 29T gear/carrier assembly onto the layshaft (43/246) so that the circlip next to the collar on the end of the layshaft. Now fit a plummer-block to the shaft so that the bearing meets the back of the gear carrier (43/108). The gear carrier (43/222) should now be fitted with the circlip groove facing away from the headed end of the layshaft. A second plummer-block should now slide on the shaft with its bearing facing the gear carrier. Temporarily fit the assembly to the chassis using the front two sets of holes and four No.4 x 3/8" screws (22/238). |
 |
Make sure that the layshaft is pushed as far back as possible and then secure the gear carrier in position against the second plummer-block using an M4 x 6mm grub screw (22/212) and thread locking compound.
Now remove the assembly from the car and remove the second plummer-block to allow you to fit the 50T ring gear (13/316), which should be secured by means of a circlip (22/259) (large). Now refit the second plummer-block.
The third plummer-block should now be fitted to the layshaft but on this occasion the bearings face AWAY from the previously fitted components. Loosely fit the rear gear carrier (43/222) with an M4 x 6mm grub screw. The layshaft assembly should be temporarily refitted to the chassis and the rear gear driver finally secured (with thread locking compound) with its hexagonal face touching the bearing in the rear plummer-block. Now remove the layshaft, fit the 37T gear (43/242) and secure it with a circlip (22/259). The centre drive may now be finally fitted to the chassis using six No.4 x 3/8" screws (22/238). |
