The PB Racing model car company produced the Mustang X3 quite some time ago and we have decided to republish the manual on-line as a reference. |
This will help both those who still have one of these cars as well any other modeller who is interested in cars from the past. |

| Fuel Tank |
Pack No. 15/102 and 15/104
Fit the two tank mounting posts (18/228) to the underside of the chassis radio plate using an M3 thin nut (22/251) either side of the plate and check that the cross drilled holes and pointing across the car.
From the fuel tank pack take the brass pipe 915/203) and smooth both ends. File a 'V" shaped slot across the end of the long section as this ensures fuel is not obstructed when the pipe is pressed fully down. |

Now fit the pipe to the hole in the tank top at the side, and to the rear of, the filler spout. If you intend to pressurise the fuel tank, then cut the top 1.5mm from the small plastic pipe to the side of the filler spout and this will allow you to connect your pressure pipe to the tank. The front edge of the upstand on the tank lid should be cut to form a suitable thumb grip.
See photographs. |
| Fit the two rubber grommets to the holes in the front and rear mounting lugs and if necessary, trim the flanges either side of the lugs to clear the chassis top plate. The tank may now be fitted to the posts on the underside of the top plate and secured with the two clips (18/230) provided. |
| Wheels & Tyres |
Pack No. 49/101
A length of foam rubber is supplied (49/206), which is intended to be cut up and used as inserts for the tyres (49/200). These inserts have a significant effect upon the way in which the tyres perform and the use of inserts/insert width should be based on individual experimentation. |
We have found that inserts in the width range of 40 to 50mm cover the full spectrum of performance modification and would suggest a starting point of 42mm. On the occasions that you do not use inserts it is necessary to glue the tyre to the rim.
Fit the insert (if you are using one) into the inside of the tyre and then stretch the tyre over the inner and outer wheel rims. Join the two sections of the rim together with six No.4 x 3/8" screws. |
| Body Shell & Wing |
The body shell and wing should be cut to shape as shown on the photographs.
Paint them using Hobbynox or similar paint which is designed specifically for Lexan©. |

The wing wire should be bent as shown and please note that, when fitted, the wire is bent forwards.
Fit the wing to the wire using the plastic mushrooms and two No.6 x 5/16" self-tapping screws (22/237). |
